Between 1890 and WWII, Buffalo was the 8th largest city in the country and was instrumental in shaping architectural styles and industrial practices, resulting in signature buildings, some of which are still extant in Buffalo.
Examples examined in this presentation include the Adams Power Station, Guaranty Building, American Grain Elevator, Alling & Cory Building, Larkin Administration Building and Darwin Martin House.t
Spoghtlight on Style: Art Deco (2 hours CE)

The Paris-originated Art Deco style dominated the US in the 1920’s and 1930s in clothing, jewelry, cars, trains, furniture and architecture. Some of Buffalo’s most important buildings are splendid testimonials from this era. Art Deco Examples included in this presentation are Buffalo City Hall, Central Terminal, Buffalo Industrial Bank, Vars Building, Courier Express Building, Greyhound Bus Terminal, and Lafayette Hotel lobby.
