OVERVIEW: At the conclusion of this program component, participants will be familiar with essential goal planning methodology. Workshop participants will experience the necessary steps in every goal planning endeavor. They will explore the components of identifying the desired state, having a congruent desire for achieving the state, knowing the evidence for having achieved the desired goal, identifying potential obstacles preventing the goal and the use of resources available to assist in achievement of the goal. Action planning will introduce participants to the concept and overall method of organizational transformation and the change process. They will examine the concept of whole system change, including the creation of broad objectives and a description of a desired future; a work redesign planning session and discussion and identification of a decision-making process. They will essentially set the stage for the identification and preparation for change. Participants will make use of the Dialogue Model employing sustained collective inquiry and feedback to create a desirable and attainable vision which they will support through individual and group change.
DURATION: Half-day, full day or extended multiple-day workshops
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Goal Planning:
- Identifying the desired state.
- Learning three essential requirements of goal setting.
- Know the evidence for having achieved the desired goal.
- Identify potential obstacles preventing the goal.
- Evaluate resources available to assist in goal achievement.
Action Planning:
- Making the plan.
- Creating a timeline.
- Defining checkpoints.
- Creating a readiness for executing the plan.
FORMAT: This workshop is designed to be highly participatory and interactive. Certain key concepts, which will be used through the workshop experience, will be presented and discussed initially. Using a "practice and feedback" loop approach, participants will gain an understanding of the processes of effective communication, and how these components can be modified for maximum results.
